Bowhunting France and Spain

France

France has been bowhunting now for many years and there are good opportunities to bowhunt for Chamois and Mouflon sheep. Most of the quality bowhunting for Chamois takes place on National Forest Land in the Pyrenees Mts. on the southern border with Spain. The free ranging Mouflon bowhunt is in the south central mountains. These are both National Forest hunts and are reasonably priced, but be aware that a lot of paperwork in involved requiring booking at least 8 months or more prior to hunt. The guides we use are bowhunters themselves and speak English. The best time for Chamois will be in October while the Mouflon is a little later October/November. Bowhunts for Red deer, Roe deer and wild boar can be arranged but will be “Estate” hunting.

Spain

Spain has a great hunting tradition dating back hundreds of years. The main species bowhunted here with a high degree of success are: Spanish goat (Mallorcan Boc) hunted September - June and the Gredos ibex which can be hunted April-June and/or Oct./Nov. Both of these species are wild and free range. Much of the other hunting in Spain is "estate hunting" on private property (red deer, wild boar, Mouflon sheep). Spain is also one of those bowhunting destinations that lend itself to a great vacation/hunt combo. There are lots of sights to see in Spain.
