Bowhunting Sambar Deer
Native of Northern India, this deer is the main food of the Bengal Tiger. Very reclusive and shy, this deer is usually found in deep forested cover. Bowhunting early morning and late evening is the best chance to score as they tend to be more nocturnal.
These are large deer, comparable to a cow elk, at around 300-400 lbs. They breed year around, as the females come into season. For that reason, you will see velvet and hard antlers running together at all times of year.
Relatively expensive trophy fees. Difficult bowhunt, only because they are hard to find. Plan on a full 7 days of collect one of these beauties.
The Sambar in NZ are not as plentiful as in Australia. Generally the NZ Sambar are more expensive than Australia.
