Bowhunting in Other African Countries

Central African Republic

Through pressure from primarily French sportsmen bowhunting was accepted in 1984 with no restrictions on species. C.A.R. has historically been a country that is very expensive to bowhunt in. Lord Derby Eland, Giant Forest Hog, Bongo and a wide variety of duikers are some of the very specialized species one would find here.

Ethiopia

Also in 2005, Ethiopia is issuing bowhunting licenses. This country in the northeast part of Africa is home to some unique species. The most notable would be the Mountain Nyala. Also a very expensive country to bowhunt, with few outfitters with bow experience, Ethiopia would be for the experienced African bowhunter in search of hard to find species.

Burkina Faso and Benin

These West African countries allow bowhunting and licenses are issued routinely through a special application process. One will need the help of the safari outfitter or agent in order to assist in the process. Few bowhunters have traveled here and careful selection of the outfitter would be important.
