Dwight SchuhBowhunting Advisor
Dwight began his career as an outdoor writer in 1971 and made his living as a freelance writer and lecturer for 25 years. In 1996, he was named as Editor for BOWHUNTER magazine. In addition to his editing duties, he wrote hundreds of features and editorials for the magazine, as well as a back-page column, The Wild Side. He also oversaw production of Bowhunter Magazine TV and appeared as featured hunter in numerous episodes. In June, 2011, Dwight retired as a full-time staff member with Bowhunter, but he continues with the magazine as Hunting Editor, writing a regular column call Pure Bowhunting, as well as his popular Wild Side column. He also appears in occasional episodes of Bowhunter TV.
Dwight has written nine books on archery and backcountry hunting, including Bugling for Elk, Hunting Open-Country Mule Deer, and Bowhunter’s Encyclopedia. He has been featured in several videos, including Hunting Rocky Mountain Mule Deer, Elk Fever, Buck Fever, and Bowhunter Magazine’s Video Journals. Dwight has bowhunted for big game for nearly 40 years. With bow and arrow he has taken deer in a dozen states, elk in seven, and a total of 23 big game species from across North America. He also has taken numerous species in Africa. Dwight’s vast and varied background as a traveling bowhunter makes him uniquely qualified as an advisor. We are certainly fortunate to have his talent available to us.
“Bowhunting Safari Consultants has lined up some excellent hunts for me both in Africa and North America. The guys at BSC are straight shooters who work with good outfitters.” — Dwight Schuh
