Goats first arrived in New Zealand with the whalers and sealers during the 19th century  who used them as a food source. Later more goats were introduced as a weed control measure for farming. These were the basis for the large herds of wild feral goats now all over the island. These feral goats from New Zealand can grow expansive horns (commonly over 36 inch spread) and bowhunting them can be a lot of fun.
